Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn met with the faculty members, students and departmental officials at the Mawlamyine Education Degree College yesterday.
It was attended by state government officials, departmental officials, district and township administrators, faculty members and students of Mawlamyine University, Education Degree College, Technological University and ethnic people of literature and culture troupes.
Speaking at the meeting, the Union minister said that the insurgents spread false information and misinformation with the help of media. They also kill innocent civilians and commit various crimes.
He added that they also conducted wrongful actions, such as explosions of roads, bridges, and buildings, even though the government had established these infrastructures. Although it is easy to do such destructive elements, rebuilding them will take time and cost a lot. Therefore, the residents should be protected to ensure regional stability.
He also talked about the false information regarding the clashes occurring in Shan State (North) to disintegrate the bilateral relations between Myanmar and China, efforts of the ministry to address such misinformation and provide the people with trustworthy information and personal consideration regarding the activities of powerful countries that affect the image of the country using media.
He then expressed appreciation for students who will be good leaders of the country in the future and urged all to fight against terrorist acts.
He then donated 1,000 DVB T 2 Set Top Boxes for townships and villages of Mon State and the state military station.
At noon, the Union Minister inspected the affiliated departments and provided cash assistance to the staff.
Moreover, he visited the blackboard slates shop in Mudon village and the pipe and wood curving industry in Ywaloon village of Chaungzon Township. He highlighted the support of the government in developing MSMEs. — MNA/KTZH
