MoIP UM receives UNHCR resident representative

The UNHCR residential representative calls on Union Minister U Myint Kyaing yesterday.

Union Minister for Immigration and Population U Myint Kyaing received Ms Noriko Takagi, Resident Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and party yesterday in Nay Pyi Taw.
Both sides frankly discussed the signing of a new MoU between MoIP and UNHCR to replace the expired MoU for the repatriation of displaced people from Rakhine State, negotiation for the amendment to the new MoU and its earlier improvement in a certain way, visa extension for foreigners including UNHCR personnel, awareness of Myanmar’s efforts to repatriate displaced persons from Rakhine State and conditions for effective cooperation and assistance. — MNA/TS
