Myanmar can see a quadrantid meteor shower, which is the first in 2024, through 3 January night to 5 January before sunrise, according to MASES-Myanmar Astronomy and Science Enthusiasts Society.
The meteors are debris of 2003 EH1 broken asteroid.
“Quadrantid meteor shower peak time just lasts about 6 hours. We can see quite a large quantity on night of 3 January, but this year meteor shower peak is predicted from 8:00 pm of 4 January to next morning before sunrise. However, the quadrantid meteor shower is difficult to predict and the meteor called Zenith stays just below the horizon at 8:00pm of 4 January and gradually rises up at around 1:30am. The quadrantid meteor shower falls 60 per hour to the minimum and 200 per hour to the maximum. The fireball can also be seen,” said MASES.
People should watch the meteor shower from a site where the sky is clear and the light is low, and it can be seen the best by bare eyes without equipment like telescope.
