Myanmar delegation attends 2023 China-ASEAN International Forum on Traditional Medicine and Health Tourism

Deputy Minister for Health Dr Aye Tun, Deputy Minister for Hotels and Tourism U Phyo Zaw Soe, and high-ranking officials attended the 2023 China-ASEAN International Forum on Traditional Medicine and Health Tourism held in Guanxi Kum Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China on 15 October.
The forum was held under the theme of “Health Preserving Culture of Traditional Medicine and Industrial Development of Health Tourism”, and the deputy minister for Health and the deputy minister of Hotels and Tourism delivered opening remarks.
Deputy Minister Dr Aye Tun underscored the rich historical and cultural heritage of traditional medicine in Myanmar, the respect for and trust in traditional medicine practitioners in Myanmar’s society, combining traditional medicine and tourism, health tourism to be further developed, the possibility of providing healthcare with traditional medicine for patients abroad, and thereby support the economic development of the region and the country.
Furthermore, Deputy Minister U Phyo Zaw Soe highlighted the philosophy of traditional medicine and health tourism between ASEAN countries and China’s neighbouring countries, and the potential exchange of skills to meet the diverse needs of people and tourists and create a combination of ancient wisdom and modern healthcare by showing a video promoting Myanmar tourism.
On 14 October, the Myanmar delegation, together with representatives from ASEAN countries, observed the Guanxi Botanical Garden and Museum in Nanning.
