Myanmar ties Laos 2-2 in AFF Cup 2022 Group match

The Myanmar national team played a home match of the AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2022 Group B against the Laos team yesterday at Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon and the score was drawn 2-2.
In the early minutes of the first half, the Myanmar team played with the ball possession advantage, but the Laos goalkeeper was able to prevent every of Myanmar’s attempts. In the 12th minute of the match, the Laos team took the lead as back number 17 Vongchiengkham delivered a solid kick in the penalty area through a counterattack.
In turn, the Myanmar team attacked the Laos team in the 14th minute of the game, Kyaw Min Oo scored the equalizer with a header. The Myanmar team tried to score a goal, but Aung Kaung Marn and Myat Kaung Khant’s kicks were not accurate enough to change the opportunities into goals. The Laos team made counter-attacks again, but the score was tied 1-1 at the end of the first half.
At the start of the second half, the Laos team substituted two players, and Ekkamai scored the second leading goal in the 46th minute.
The Myanmar team changed some players to score an equalizer and penetrated the Laos team several times, but goalkeeper Xaysavath saved it skillfully.
Team captain Maung Maung Lwin scored the equalizer for the Myanmar team through a free kick in extra time.
The Myanmar national team will play the final match of the group against Vietnam on 3 January. — KZL
