Myanmar to play Malaysia today in Group B of ASEAN U-23 Championship

LOCAL NEWS

The first day of Group B of the 2022 ASEAN U-23 Championship will be held today and the Myanmar team will take on the Malaysia team at 3:30 pm (Myanmar Standard Time).
Myanmar, Malaysia and Laos teams are involved in Group B and both matches for team Myanmar are important for the next round.
The Indonesian team in the group withdrew from the competition, giving every team a chance to advance to the next round.
According to the format of the tournament, only the top three teams and the top two runners-up from the three groups will advance to the semi-finals, so Myanmar needs to get a good result in the opening match against Malaysia.
Myanmar will play against Laos next on 21 February, so if they have a good result against Malaysia, team Myanmar will have a bigger chance to advance to the semi-finals.
On the other hand, Timor-Leste and the Philippines drew twice in the opening match of Group A on 14 February.
The Myanmar team is made up of most of the players who competed in the 2022 AFC U-23 Championship and is headed by Bulgarian Popov. Cambodia is hosting the ASEAN U-23 Championship. — Ko Nyi Lay/GNLM
