Players of Myanmar U16 youth football team are under training to take part in the AFF U-16 Championship to be held in the coming June.
They started training sessions in March, but 31 preliminary selected players on the team were approved in late April. The players did not take holidays from the training session even in the Thingyan period. Those players came from football academies and those outstanding players from the FIFA-MFF U-15 League. They passed two trials and a physical fitness examination. Currently, the Myanmar U-16 team is under the control of Head Coach Japanese Mitami.
The ASEAN U-16 Championship will take place from 21 June to 4 July this year. Currently, the team competes in tune-up matches with local teams on Wednesdays and Saturdays despite a lack of chance to play international tune-up matches.
The youth squad is formed with outstanding players from MFF Academy-Mandalay, Nay Pyi Taw Academy, Yamana Club, Yangon Focus Club, Rakhine United, Soccer Care, Sagaing United, Shan United, MFF Academy-Yangon, City Shwepyitha, and Royal Yangon Thet Lon FC. — Ko Nyi Lay/TTA
