Over 27,300 flood victims relocated to 47 temporary shelters

The torrential rain since 6 October 2023 caused flash floods in Bago Region and the regional government relocated 27,302 vulnerable flood victims to 47 temporary shelters as of the evening of 10 October by providing accommodation, health care service and food supply.
A team led by Bago Region Chief Minister U Myo Swe Win inspected some areas by boat to intensify the evacuation activities in the region on the afternoon of 10 October. They provided drinking water bottles and water purification tablets in some wards facing floods. The chief minister received 100 rice sacks donated by the Eastern Command for Bago’s flood victims at the natural disaster management office in the Bago Region.
Afterwards, they also observed the maintenance and restoration of some rail parts in the north of Bago city and the minister instructed the officials concerned to tackle the traffic congestion and repair the railway crossings by working together with the officials of Myanma Railways. — IPRD/KK
