SAC Chair PM Senior General Min Aung Hlaing meets, comforts tornado victims in Lewe township

State Administration Council Chairman Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing met residents at Aungmyingon and TadaU villages in Lewe Township victimized by a tornado, comforted and provided cash assistance and relief items yesterday.
A tornado pummelled Lewe Township of Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory at 6:20 pm on 21 April. A total of 155 houses, one school, one rural dispensary, one monastery in Aungmyingon Village and another 77 houses and one monastery in TadaU Village were damaged in the strong wind leaving a total of 113 locals hurt and six people dead.
The region Tatmadaw members, members of the Myanmar Police Force, the Fire Brigade, departmental officials and volunteers carried out emergency rescue measures and conveyed the injured persons to the nearest hospitals to receive medical treatment.
First, the Senior General met the Aungmyingon village administrator and local people to comfort them. Then, the Senior General provided cash assistance for six deceased victims from two villages.
The Senior General exhorted officials of the Ministry of the Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, Nay Pyi Taw Council and Nay Pyi Taw Command to reconstruct the destroyed schools in time for the school-opening season, repair monasteries, rebuild houses in land plots systematically and provide the needed household items to storm victims.
He then inspected the seriously damaged school, monastery and houses in Aungmyingon village and made proper instructions.
He also cordially encouraged the victims who are under medical treatment at Nay Pyi Taw General Hospital (1000-bed) and provided foodstuffs to them. — MNA/KTZH
