vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win, accompanied by senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and the commander of Yangon Command, yesterday morning, went to the Defence Services Specialty Orthopaedic Hospital (500-bed), the special care centre at Defence Services General Hospital (1,000-bed) and Defence Services Liver Specialty Hospital in Mingaladon Township and comforted officers, other ranks and families receiving medical treatments there.
On arrival at Defence Services Specialty Orthopaedic Hospital (500-bed) and Defence Services General Hospital (1,000-bed), the Vice-Senior General and party were welcomed by commandants and officials.
At the meeting halls of relevant hospitals, the commandants reported on medical treatment, the undertaking of four military building tasks, and the progress of agriculture and livestock farms. The Vice-Senior General asked what he wanted to know and coordinated necessary measures.
The Vice-Senior General then asked about the diseases of patients individually and presented foodstuffs and aid.
Then, the Vice-Senior General presented cash awards for health staff from the hospitals through relevant commandants.
At the Defence Services Liver Specialty Hospital, the Vice-Senior General and party encouraged two patients who received liver transplant operations for the first time in the Tatmadaw on 27 and 28 September as a gesture of hailing the Diamond Jubilee Medical Corps Day and presented foodstuffs to those patients and cash awards to military specialists and medical officers from the Tatmadaw who successfully performed the liver transplant operations.
The liver transplant operations were successfully performed on liver receiver Company Quartermaster Sergeant Aung Chit Win and liver donor his wife Daw Myo Thuza, liver receiver Daw Khin Thuza Myo and liver donor her elder sister Daw Kathy Myint. After performing successful surgical operations, the patients and donors are healthy and happy as usual on the 30th and 31st days. Although they are now in good conditions without the need for close care by relevant liver specialists, the specialists and medical officers continue their close care for the patients with goodwill for the betterment of the patients. — MNA
