Sagaing Region Fisheries Department has conducted field patrolling in Chindwin River and Ayeyawady River with DOF SGG (001), it is learnt.
The department has constructed the DOF SGG (001) and SGG (002) vessels using capital expenditure fund of 2020-2021 financial year from the Sagaing Region Administration Council to conserve the Irrawaddy dolphins and fishery resources in Chindwin river and Ayeyawady river.
The department has conducted field patrolling with an aim to avoid wastage of fishery resources, to be able to carry out fisheries stuffs in accordance with the Freshwater Fisheries Law and to perform more conservation of Irrawaddy dolphins.
Under the supervision of the Sagaing Region Fisheries Department, DOF SGG (001) vessel led by U Aung Than Oo, the deputy director of Shwebo District Fisheries Department and his team departed along the Chindwin river from Shwebo town on 15 May. The team reached the confluence of the Chindwin River and Ayeyawady River and then, they carried out the conservation of the fishery resources.
On 16 May, the team led by U Aung Than Oo, the head of Shwebo District Fisheries Department conducted field conservation activities in the Ayeyawady river from Myaytaw to Mandalay in cooperation with the team led by U Al Too Rain, the head of Sagaing District Fisheries Department.
Then, on 17 May, the combined team recorded and conducted fieldwork for fishery resources and Irrawaddy dolphin conservation in Irrawaddy dolphin conservation area-1 from Mandalay to Kyaukmyaung town.—Soe Thiha (Shwebo)/GNLM
