Shan Ethnic Traditional Food Exhibition and Sale Festival to be held in Kengtung

According to the Hotels and Tourism Directorate (Shan State), the Shan ethnic traditional food display and sale festival will be held in Kengtung on 26 and 27 December. “The festival will be held at the Amyae Yinkwin School in Ward 1, Kengtung, to promote the success of hotels and tourism businesses in Shan State (East) and to promote the success of the traditional cultural traits and traditional food production and sales of the Shan ethnic people,” said U Htin Aung Naing, Director of Hotels and Tourism Directorate (Shan State).
“Kengtung is the capital of eastern Shan State. We have two events in Kengtung. In the Cherry Blossom Festival, Shan ethnic traditional food is on sale. The sale of ethnic traditional food will be held for two days, on 26 and 27 December. A total of 88 types of traditional food from 13 ethnic groups living in the area will be sold.
At the ethnic traditional food display and sale festival, ethnic traditional food of Shangyi, Taingli, Gonshan, Taingnei, Bamar, Palaung, Taingloi, Akha, Arkhay, Lisu, Lahu, Wa and Arn will be displayed and sold, and visitors will be entertained with ethnic cultural dances and songs. — ASH/KZL
