The image of Bhamo Sayadaw will be the first in the history of Myanmar’s silicon sculpture to be installed with artificial teeth.
“Sayadaw often smiles with his teeth, so the teeth had to be made with artificial teeth technology. I also made the artificial eyes myself, as well as planting hair on the statue and shaving the hair back is not an easy matter. Sayadaw’s image will be the first statue to be made using artificial teeth technology in the history of Myanmar’s silicon statues,” U Aung Kyaw Tun, a silicon artist who is making Saydaw’s statue himself.
The clay statue of Chairman of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Bhamo Sayadaw has 75 per cent completed to make a silicon statue.
Silicon sculptor U Aung Kyaw Tun is known for his silicon portrait of General Aung San reading on a chair, which was displayed at the Bogyoke Museum in Natmauk in commemoration of the 100th birthday of the General. — Htun Htun/KZL
