Union Minister for Construction U Shwe Lay inspected the maintenance of Pyu-Okphyat-Mone Road carried out by Toungoo District Department of Highways, Bago Region on 20 November.
At the construction site of the Sittoung River Bridge (Okphyat), he inspected the completion of the concrete floor work of the bridge, bridge handrails, up-stream and down-stream waterway, and water condition of the bridge.

Sittoung Bridge (Okphyat) is located on the Pyu-Okphyat-Mone Road in Bago District.
The total length of the bridge is 620 feet and road width is 8.53 meters. The girder is constructed of 60 feet RC Girder, 100 feet PC Girder, RC Slab and Hand Rail on a steel girder with a load withstanding capacity of HS-25.
Afterwards, officials explained the completion of concrete paving of Layeinsu-Mayin-Ywahaung road connecting Yangon-Bago-Toungoo-Mandalay Union Highway.
The Bridge Construction Task Force (9) of the Department of Bridges is carrying out pre-engineering work for the construction of a new 150-foot Mudu Bridge and a 120-foot new bridge on the road.
The Union Minister also inspected upgrading works of Bago-Thanatpin-Kayan-Thongwa-Thanlyin Road (Yangon Region section) from the previous 12-foot road level to 18-foot-wide asphalt road.
In the evening, the Union Minister and party inspected at the construction site of 5-storey People’s Hospital and 8-storey Oncology Unit in Dagon Seikkan Township, Yangon Region.—MNA
