State Administration Council Vice-Chair Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Vice-Senior General Soe Win meets departmental officials and town elders of Bawlakhe Township in Kayah State on 2 February 2022.

Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win met departmental personnel and town elders in Bawlakhe Township together with SAC members Saw Daniel and Lt-Gen Soe Htut and military officers of the Commander-in-Chief Office yesterday.
During the meeting, the Vice-Senior General said the SAC overcame many challenges during the one-year term of the State of Emergency. Some government employees joined CDM without thinking of the country and the government tried hard with good employees who do not want terrorist attacks. Despite various internal and external pressures, it has passed successfully with public participation. The great challenge is COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment measures. Some countries and INGOs once said that Myanmar would have to give up on the pandemic. The country successfully overcame the third wave of COVID-19 in a short period of time with the participation of departments concerned, public and faithful health workers.
The SAC Chairman presided over the meeting of the Central Committee on Prevention, Control and Treatment for COVID-19 every Monday, while the SAC Vice-Chairman led COVID-19 Control and Emergency Response Committee almost daily to negotiate and find solutions with the state/region committees. Although there was weakness in the data of vaccination during the first and second waves, the VMIS Programme on Web portal has been developed.
During the third wave, the oxygen demand was high and some subversive businesspersons tried for their own sakes. The government has undertaken effective measures to achieve COVID-19 protective gears, including oxygen in time. The international countries, even the INGOs were amazed at such best control. Moreover, although some cooperated with foreign countries to affect the banking system and economy so that the government cannot stand, it successfully overcame with great perseverance.
According to the policy of the Prime Minister, some imports are restricted and locally-produced products are encouraged. So, it showed a trade surplus in the first six-month mini-budget period of the 2021-2022FY. The government also makes efforts to improve trade routes with the neighbouring countries and to export the products successively. Departments concerned also should work together for the development of respective regions.
He then stressed the necessary things based on the motions of the town elders and relevant departments.—MNA
