Woman sentenced to prison for human trafficking

The Myitkyina District Court sentenced a woman named Daw Shee Marsar (aka) Daw Pite who lived in Tanai Township, Kachin State, to 10 years imprisonment with labour under Sections 24 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Law.
Daw Shee Marsar deceived the victim, Ma…, aged 31, who lived in the same township that she would marry her off to a Lisu man by asking her hand in marriage in a traditional way. Later, the victim was sold to a Chinese man, Lin Kye Ye, from which the suspect gained a financial profit.
She was prosecuted at the Tanai Myoma police station under Section 24 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Law. — MNA
