Yangon Region Disaster Management Committee discusses natural hazards preparedness, response plan

Yangon Region Disaster Management Committee holds meeting on response plan to disasters.

The Yangon Region Disaster Management Committee organized its 3rd coordination meeting yesterday.
Firstly, Region Chief Minister U Hla Soe, chairman of the committee, said the various disasters can occur in any season and so the lowland areas can face flooding during monsoon in August, and when the tide rises in the Yangon River. Therefore, the respective chairmen of working committees, secretaries and departmental officials should make preparations and responses to the natural disasters.
Then, Commander of Yangon Command Maj-Gen Nyunt Win Swe briefed them on the formation of seven groups for rescue works, stockpiling of rescue equipment and cooperation work with the region government.
U Than Soe, secretary of committee and director of region natural disaster management department, made power point presentation for the plans responded to natural hazards.
Then, the officials of 12 working committees including natural disaster management working committee, international relations working committee and fund raising and fund management working committee discussed their respective work plans.—San Kyaw Oo (IPRD)/GNLM
