Fire brigade members are seen conducting rescue operations at the scene of an accident.

Between January and July of this year, a total of 97 traffic accidents occurred on the Yangon-Mandalay expressway, leading to the unfortunate loss of 60 lives and causing injuries to 132 individuals. This data originates from the Nay Pyi Taw Expressway Police Commander’s Office.
Notably, concerted efforts to curb traffic accidents on the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway have led to a decline in the accident rate. This has been achieved through vigilant arrests and measures undertaken against vehicles that disregard regulations. Furthermore, from January until the end of May in the current year, enforcement actions targeted 7,548 vehicles that flouted the rules on the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway.
To ensure strict adherence to the expressway’s speed limitations and traffic regulations, the Nay Pyi Taw Expressway Police Commander’s Office has strategically deployed speed-measuring apparatus and is conducting vehicle inspections to bolster compliance with traffic norms. — TWA/KZW
