Union Minister U Shwe Lay inspects road, bridge construction works in Rakhine State

Union Minister for Construction U Shwe Lay presided over a coordination meeting on work plans and completed operations in 2020-2021FY with the Departments of Buildings, Highways, Bridges, Urban and Housing Development, Rural Road Development of Rakhine State yesterday.
During the meeting, the Union Minister said it should conduct the standard operations to be completed in time. The staff need to follow the COVID-19 health rules and report their difficulties to the department heads concerned.
The departments also should emphasize their duties in conducting the projects to meet the fixed standards and make preparations for natural disasters and transportation.
The relevant departments’ heads presented the work plans and ongoing operations in 2020-2021FY with a Powerpoint presentation, and the Union Minister coordinated the discussion.
Moreover, the Union Minister met with the Command Staff Colonel of Western Colonel Kyaw Kyaw Than, township administrative body chairman U Htay Aung and other officials.
The officials discussed the construction of the new Thayu (Pepadone) Bridge build by the ministry, safe passing of fuel bowsers on the current suspension bridge, upgrade works on the downtown junction and stone pillar with directional signs in An Township, roads to be implemented by the Department of Rural Road Development, the strength of suspension road and land areas for a new bridge.
The Union Minister and party inspected the An-Padekyaw-Maei road section and paving of tar road on the Maei-Kyaukpyu section.
The officials then checked the paving of concrete road on the Taungup-Maei-Kyaukpyu (Taungup-Maei) section. Deputy Director U Ye Min Maung of Road Special Team (18) clarified the concrete paving operation between 0km and 69.20km on the Taungup-Maei road section.
The Union Minister left instructions on the necessary things regarding the road paving system and tree planting programme on the traffic island. — MNA
