Manipur govt to reopen India-Myanmar border checkpoints in Moreh town

The Manipur government has decided to reopen all India-Myanmar border checkpoints in Moreh town, Manipur.
The state government has informed the IGAR (South) and the deputy commissioner of Tengnoupal district to take up necessary measures for resuming the trade.
The border checkpoint will be reopened for the export of emergency medical supplies for the treatment of COVID-19 to Myanmar which has been hit hard by the third wave of COVID-19.
According to the directive of the Union government, the state government has decided to reopen all border crossings in Moreh to allow the import of medicines from India.
The letter stated that “the state government has decided to allow the opening of land border crossings as one-way that is to allow exports of medical items from India to Myanmar only and to restrict imports from Myanmar.
The Manipur government closed the India-Myanmar border checkpoints along with Moreh town, Tengnoupal district beginning from 9 March to prevent the COVID-19 outbreak. With coronavirus deaths rising in Myanmar, there have been 3,480 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 397 deaths, reports to the Ministry of Health and Sports.
