MoEE, MoI discuss natural gas and electricity supply required for factories’ resumption

The coordination meeting to electrify factories of Industry Ministry is in progress.

The Ministry of Electricity and Energy held the coordination meeting on the supply of natural gas and electricity required for the reopening of the workshops and factories under the Ministry of Industry, yesterday morning in accordance with the COVID-19 preventive guidelines.
The meeting was attended by Union Minister for Electricity and Energy U Aung Than Oo, Union Minister for Industry Dr Charlie Than, Deputy Minister U Thant Zin, Deputy Minister U Ko Ko Lwin, Permanent Secretary U Than Zaw and department officials.
At the meeting, Union Minister Dr Charlie Than, Deputy Minister U Ko Ko Lwin and officials discussed the condition of natural gas and electricity demand and supply for factories that will be reopened in the first phase, and the condition and timing of the inspection of power lines and natural gas pipelines.
Afterwards, the requirement of natural gas and electricity in steel plants, textile factories, paper mill branches, heavy industries, pharmaceutical factories and drinking water factories across the country that prioritize natural gas for power source were explained.
The Union Ministers, the Deputy Ministers and officials discussed the condition to provide technical support to replace the natural gas and electricity required for the workshops/factories with biofuels and other thermal energy, and coordinated the requirements.—MNA
