Prisoners/detainees pardoned to be released from Insein Central Prison

The State Administration Council declared an amnesty to those arrested or detained for their involvement in riots due to various reasons and a total of 647 detainees/prisoners were released on 18 October and 400 more (315 males, 85 females) were released yesterday morning.
Relevant officials transported them to their respective places. According to the Deputy Director and in-charge of the Insein Central Prison, plans are underway to release more.
Chairman of the State Administration Council aimed to give them a chance to participate in the public service after they have been released and their cases have been closed, he added.

The release of the prisoners/detainees is in line with the five-point roadmap set by the State Administration Council for national stability and true democracy. The Council aims to pardon those who have been prosecuted in various courts in the country and imprisoned for participating in riots for various reasons to bring peace to the people and to let them participate in nation-building, it is reported. — Nyein Thu (MNA)/GNLM
