MoC oversees daily import processes for anti-COVID-19 equipment

The Ministry of Commerce is making efforts to ensure people have access to the essential medical supplies that are critical to the COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment activities, including liquid oxygen and oxygen cylinders, by arranging continuous importation through trading posts, international airports and seaports with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
On 6 November, anti-COVID-19 equipment, medical products, including masks and oxygen generators, were imported by three companies and transported by 15 vehicles.
A total of 105 tonnes of masks were imported via Chinshwehaw trading posts, officials said.
From 1 to 6 November, a total of 80 tonnes of liquid oxygen, six tonnes of oxygen gas carried by bowsers, 1,638 empty oxygen cylinders, two oxygen plants, six oxygen generators, 30 oxygen concentrators, 63,600 PPE suits, nine tonnes of gloves and 186 tonnes of masks were transported by 34 vehicles from 15 companies.
In the same period, two bowsers transported liquid oxygen to Yangon, another two to Mawlamyine and one to Nay Pyi Taw. Two oxygen plants were also transported to Yangon, officials said.
Officials from the relevant departments are cooperating to facilitate and expedite the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including online registration for the import process.
