Officials welcome back 279 returnees from Laos to Tachilek

Officials welcomed back a total of 279 returnees from Laos, including 171 males and 108 females, at Wang Pong port, Mongphone (A) Village-tract, Tachilek in eastern Shan State yesterday morning.
With the supervision of the Prevention, Control and Treatment Committee on COVID-19 in Tachilek District, the returnees were diagnosed with RDT Rapid Test Kit for the first time.
On the third day of quarantine at Wang Lone Centre, nasal and palate samples of the returnees were taken and sent to Taunggyi for a second diagnosis.
According to the test results, the COVID-19 virus was detected in five repatriated persons and they
will stay in Wang Lone COVID-19 Centre to receive further medical treatment.
Officials said that they will provide free transport to reach their respective places.
Tachilek has been accepting Myanmar nationals returning from Laos since 30 July, and a total of 4,354 male and female returnees have been repatriated, officials added. — Yar Say (IPRD)/GNLM
