AFC Cup ASEAN Zone Group matches to be held in June

The 2022 AFC Cup ASEAN Group matches in which Myanmar teams are participating, will be held in June.
Two Myanmar clubs, Shan United and Hanthawady United, will compete in the tournament.
Previously, Hanthawady had to start from the qualifiers but for now, the team got a chance to play in the group stage.
Timor-Leste and Brunei have lost their competition chance due to a lack of club licences.
Therefore, in the next AFC Cup, Myanmar clubs Shan United and Hanthawady will have to start from the group stage.
In addition to the AFC Cup group stage, Shan United have been qualified for the Asian Champions League semi-finals.
In 2021, the last match of the Myanmar National League could not be held, so defending champion of 2020, Shan United, and the runner-up Hanthawady were allowed to compete in the ASEAN tourney.
Both teams qualified for the 2021 Asian Championships but withdrew.
The ASEAN Zone Group Games will be held from 24 to 30 June. The drawing of lots for the 2022 AFC Cup will take place on 17 January. — Ko Nyi Lay/GNLM
