The Myanmar U-23 team is taking training for two international tourneys before the second half of this year.
The Myanmar squad is preparing for the ASEAN U-23 Championship in February and the 31st SEA Games in May, officials said.
The team will be preparing for the SEA Games after the ASEAN Games, so football authorities have selected players who can be deployed in both competitions.
The youth squad is made up of 30 preliminary players, including players from the U-19 team who competed in the 2022 AFC U-23 Championship in October 2021, as well as winger Arthur Pha, who plays for the Spanish second division club Leganes.
The team is headed by Bulgarian Coach Veliza Popov and will start training on 10 January.
The ASEAN U-23 Championship will be held in Cambodia from 14 to 26 February. Myanmar team is placed in Group B together with Indonesia, Malaysia, and Laos.
The 31st SEA Games will be held from May 12 to 23, and the ASEAN U-23 Championship will be held earlier. — Ko Nyi Lay/GNLM
