Traffickers sentenced to jail for human trafficking

Yangon’s South District Court sentenced a man to six years imprisonment with labour for his role in trafficking a man to a fishing bamboo raft (Kyaphaung) work site on 5 May.
The victim U…, aged 30, from Dala Township of Yangon Region, was sent to a fishing bamboo raft work site by Balaji (aka) Aung Bala from Pyapon Township of Ayeyawady Region. Balaji exploited the salary of the victim-K600,000 that he told the victim to earn K80,000 a month.
The trafficker was prosecuted at Dala Myoma police station under Section 25 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Law.
Similarly, Yangon’s North District Court sentenced two traffickers to 10 years imprisonment with labour under Sections 24/32 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Law on 6 May.
The victim Ma …, aged 18, from Hlinethaya Township of Yangon Region was sold to a Chinese man by Ma Paing Paing Soe (aka) Ma Soe Soe and Taw Thargyi (aka) Tin Ko Oo from Shwepyitha Township of Yangon Region. The two traffickers exploited K6,000,000 that they told the victim to earn K1,500,000 a month.
The two traffickers were prosecuted at Shwepyithar police station under Sections 24/32 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Law. — MNA
