As the Thai league matches of the 2022-2023 season will start soon, the participating teams are preparing for the new season and signing contracts with Myanmar players.
As of 5 July, according to official press releases, four Myanmar players have joined the new club, with one signing a contract extension with the previous club. Defender Zaw Min Tun has returned to his former club, Thai League-1 club Chonburi.
Midfielder Nyein Chan Aung will play for Thai League-2 club Nakhon Si Thammarat and Than Paing has moved to Thai League 3 club Kanchanaburi with a one-season contract.
Striker Aung Kaung Marn signed a one-season contract extension with Thai League-2 club Udon Thani last season.
Among the newcomers, Zaw Min Tun has been playing for Thai clubs since 2019. He returned to Chonburi after playing for Thai League 2 club Trad.
Hein Phyo Win, Than Paing and Nyein Chan Aung are the first to arrive at foreign clubs.
Some Myanmar players have been playing for Thai clubs for the past few years, and the number has increased since the end of last year.
In addition to Thai clubs, Myanmar footballers also play in clubs in Malaysia, Thailand, Viet Nam, Cambodia and Laos and have more than 15 expatriates so far.
