Public rental housing project nears completion in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon and Mandalay

A construction status of the public rental housing project is seen in Mandalay.

The first phase of the public rental housing construction was completed in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon and Mandalay with 100 per cent, 69 per cent and 95 per cent respectively, according to the Yangon City Development Committee.
The housing project was implemented in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon and Mandalay with the aim to provide accommodation for civil servants, retired employees and low-income people. As a first phase for implementing a 10,000 public rental housing project, 28 buildings in Nay Pyi Taw, 194 buildings in Yangon and 91 buildings in Mandalay were being constructed with the 2022-2023 Union fund.
Rental housing projects in Yangon were built by the Myanmar Construction Entrepreneurs Federation-MCEF and Myanmar Licensed Contractors Association-MLCA with 97 buildings each, totalling 194 buildings. Forty buildings will be completed at the end of September, 27 buildings by the end of October, 24 buildings in December and 103 buildings by the end of March 2023. Associations invested a lot of capital initially for the construction under the PFI system, and the tender process was carried out in accordance with the procedures along with the regional government’s permission.
For the completed buildings in Nay Pyi Taw, project supervision teams will continue proper reception, placement, and preparation for the use of certain ground floors as a clinic, mini-store, commercial area, playground and shops.
A total of 5,008 apartments: 448 apartments in Nay Pyi Taw, 3,104 apartments in Yangon and 1,456 apartments in Mandalay, will be included in the public rental housing project. — TWA/GNLM
