Blast occurs at Insein Central Jail, leaves 8 dead and 18 injured

An explosion happened at the Insein Central Jail in Yangon at 9:40 am yesterday morning, killing and hurting some prison staff and civilians.
The security forces rushed to the scene and found that the terrorists’ mine in the parcels went off inside and outside of the building where parcels for prisoners are accepted. The building is situated at the gate of the central jail.
Prison guards Kyaw Zin Oo, Chit Moe Wai and Poe Ei San, Daw Thin Thin Cho aged 54, Ma Yoon Mi Mi Kyaw aged 10, and Daw Thein Kywe aged 56, and two unidentified women died on the spot.
A total of 18 people were injured and they were sent to Insein General Hospital for necessary treatment. Then, the security forces cleared the blast area and they found a hand-made mine from a parcel and defused it.
Investigations are being made so that the terrorists who killed and injured the prison guards and innocent civilians can be prosecuted under the law. — MNA
