Illegal timbers, crude oil, feedstuffs, foodstuffs, consumer goods, electronics and vehicles confiscated

A combined team under the supervision of the Magway Region Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force conducted inspections on 4 December.
Officials captured an unregistered Daihatsu Move car (approximately K4 million) in Pakokku township and an unregistered Honda Fit car (approximately K2.5 million) in Magway township. The action was taken under the Export and Import Law.
In addition, 28 gallons of illegal crude oil worth K140,000 from two motorbikes (estimated value of K200,000) were impounded in Yenangyaung and Minbu townships and the action was taken under the Public Property Protection Act.
On 5 December, a combined inspection team seized 56 used TVs worth K2,360,000 without official documents from a Nissan Diesel Truck (estimated value of K35 million). The action was taken under Customs Procedures.
Similarly, a total of 1.9224 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K679,392 was confiscated in Lewe and Ottarathiri townships. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
Moreover, officials concerned captured 10 mobile phones worth K3.5 million without official documents hidden in luggage at the Yangon International Airport and seized K11,544,000 worth of consumer goods that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) at the Myanmar Industrial Port container checkpoint. The action was taken under Customs Procedures.
An on-duty team nabbed three kinds of foodstuffs including 1,000 kilogrammes of animal food that exceeded the Import Declaration (ID) from a Nissan Diesel (estimated value of K35 million) near No 2 highway on Myawady-Hpa-an-Yangon Road. The action was taken under Customs Procedures.
An unregistered Alphard car (worth approximately K9 million) and an unregistered Toyota Hilux Surf car (approximately K5 million) were seized in Monywa township and the action was taken under the Export and Import Law.
A total of 6.6098 tonnes of illegal teak worth K2,412,828 was confiscated in the Khaboung forest reserve in Toungoo district and the action was taken under the Forest Law.
Therefore, 16 arrests (at an estimated value of K126,509,062) were made on three consecutive days from 4 to 6 December, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee. — MNA
