SAC Chairman PM Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attends opening of 58th Myanmar Gems Emporium for 2023

Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attended the opening of the 58th Myanmar Gems Emporium for 2023 at Maniradana Jade Hall in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning.
The Senior General and attendees watched a video clip on the production and sale of Myanmar’s pearls, the production of jewellery items, and preparations for organizing the 58th Myanmar Gems Emporium for 2023.
The Senior General viewed round jade, gems and pearl lots displayed for sale at the hall and gave necessary guidance to officials. The Senior General viewed round the private jewellery showrooms and looked into a 35-tonne jade stone excavated from Metlinchaung joint venture-2 in Lonkhin/Phakant gems land and lots of uncut jade stones displayed outside the hall.
The Myanmar Gems Emporium has been held since 1964 for selling gems and jewellery items to earn foreign exchange for the State and to benefit the citizens. This emporium will sell 295 lots of pearls, 120 lots of gems and 2,150 lots of jade to local and foreign gem merchants through open tender under the rules and regulations. The floor prices of pearl lots are set at US dollars. Foreign gem merchants are allowed payments in US dollars, euros, yuan and baht and for local gem merchants, kyat is equal to the market price. The floor prices of gems and jade lots are set at euros. Foreign merchants are allowed payments in US dollars, euros, yuan and baht and for local merchants, kyat is equal to the euro currency. With regard to jade lots, local and foreign gem merchants are allowed to pay US dollars, euros, yuan and baht for purchasing the jade lots. Moreover, local merchants are allowed to pay kyat equal to euro in buying jade lots and foreign merchants, US dollars or yuan or baht equal to the euro currency. These lots will be sold to local and foreign merchants through open tender under the rules and regulations. The 58th emporium will last from 17 to 23 March. — MNA/TTA
