Intellectual Property Department to open branches in Yangon, Mandalay

The Intellectual Property Department will open its branches in Yangon and Mandalay, according to the Ministry of Commerce.
The branches will be opened next financial year to admit applications for those who wish to register trademarks themselves.
Currently, IP applications are being processed at the head office of the IP Department in Nay Pyi Taw. Arrangements are being made to open a counter at the Trade Department on Strand Road in Pabedan Township and one more counter in Mandalay in order to receive personally submitted patent applications.
Notification No 82/2023 was issued on 10 March 2023 that Myanmar’s Trademark Law 2023 will take effect from 1 April.
The law was enacted as the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw Law No 3 in 2019. — TWA/KZW
