Mandalay to hold Walking Thingyan activity

It is known that the Walking Thingyan will be added into the 2023 Myanmar traditional Thingyan Festival in Mandalay for locals to enjoy.
Starting from the eve of Thingyan festival on 13 April, entertainment programmes, pavilions to donate refreshment, water-throwing pavilions and other great recreational programmes will be included in the Mingala Mandalay Myanmar Traditional Walking Thingyan and the Walking Thingyan along 26th street from 66th to 78th streets in the Chanmyathazi Township, Mandalay.
The Mingala Mandalay Myanmar Traditional Walking Thingyan is held on the 73rd Street during Thingyan festival to preserve Myanmar traditional culture against disappearance. The main pavilion and six zones have been set inside the walking Thingyan, said Deputy Managing Director U Soe Naing Oo of Mandalay Management Corporation Co, Ltd.
Snacks and cold drinks will be served in the Mingalar Mandalay Walking Thingyan, and the entertainment programme is scheduled every day from 9 am to 12 pm and one more from 3 pm to 6 pm, Daw Zin Mar Tun, Business Development Director of New Starlight Group of Companies said.
Similarly, there are six pavilions including the Mandalay Mayor Maha Thingyan Central Pavilion at the walking Thingyan festival along 26th Street between 66th Street and 78th Street. It will be decorated with the atmosphere of Myanmar traditional culture, and it will also be held in a lively manner with entertainment programmes featuring famous singers and artistes.
In addition, there are 11 pavilions around the Mandalay Moat including Mandalay Mayor Maha Thingyan Pavilion, five water-throwing and entertainment pavilions in downtown and 16 pavilions for refreshments around the moat. In the northern and western sections of the moat, arrangements have been made for the revellers to enjoy the festival with water pumps, and the Zaychothu water pavilion is set up near the clock tower of the Mandalay Zaygyo Market to the accompaniment of Myoma Band. — Maung Aye Chan/CT
