MoC Union Minister oversees progress on temporary Bailey bridge for damaged Thechaung bridge

Union Construction Minister U Myo Thant met the director-general, the deputy directors-general and chief engineers of the Department of Buildings and staff in Rakhine State at the director’s office of the Department of Highways in Rakhine State yesterday.
The Union minister emphasized the urgency of promptly repairing the roofs of both offices and residential buildings in townships. Prioritizing the ministry’s paramount duty of preserving road connectivity, he stressed ensuring the cleanliness of roads through efficient vehicle mechanisms.
Then, Director-General U Myo Myint of the Department of Buildings, the deputy directors-general, and chief engineers explained cooperation procedures and the Union Minister ordered officials to coordinate with the relevant ministries and Rakhine state government.
Subsequently, the Union minister and party proceeded to the construction site, located at milepost No 2/4 along the Sittway-Palinpyin Road, where the construction of a 140-foot-long and 18-foot-wide temporary Bailey bridge was underway to replace the Thechaung bridge that had suffered damage in the storm. — MNA/KZW
