MoH’s medical teams provide healthcare services in Cyclone Mocha-hit areas

The Ministry of Health has been providing health care for the people in areas affected by Cyclone Mocha since 15 May. Emergency response teams and medical teams are working in real time in rural and urban areas.
Ponnagyun Township
A medical team including specialists from Sittway General Hospital, led by the Director General of the Department of Medical Services, went to Ponnagyun yesterday, to provide healthcare to the storm victims.
They gave medical treatment to 322 people at Myoma Monastery in Ponnagyun.
State Administration Council Member Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister for Transport and Communications Admiral Tin Aung San, Union Minister for Border Affairs Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung and Rakhine State Chief Minister U Htein Lin looked around the medical treatments.
Buthidaung Township
Similarly, a team led by a surgeon from Buthidaung Township Hospital visited Tatyar Village of Buthidaung Township yesterday and provided healthcare to 47 local people.
Maungtaw Township
Similarly, a mobile medical team consisting of six specialists from Maungtaw Township Hospital visited Indin, Kyaukpandu, and Aungthukha villages in Maungtaw Township yesterday to provide healthcare to the locals.
Sinbyukyun Station of Salin Township
Similarly, under the supervision and support of the Magway Region Public Health and Medical Services Department, medical teams provided medical care to 489 residents at Myoma Basic Education Primary School in Sinbyukyun Station, 129 locals in Kahnyet village and 239 in Thayetchin village, totaling 857 people.
NyaungU Township
A mobile medical team led by Director of Mandalay Region Public Health and Medical Services Department, and Medical Superintendent from NyaungU Hospital gave medical services to 131 people at Nagakyit Home for the Aged, Wetingyi Ward 7, NyaungU Township yesterday.
Likewise, medical teams and emergency response teams, including specialists, will travel to other townships in Cyclone Mocha-hit Rakhine State and flood-affected areas to provide medical treatment.
In addition, Department of Public Health, the Ministry of Health immediately dispatched engineers from Yangon to repair refrigerators containing vaccines that were damaged by Cyclone Mocha in Sittway, Rakhine State.
Preparations were completed on 20 May, and the vaccines are ready to be redistributed to the required areas without damage.—MNA /KZL
