A combined on-duty team seized 14,104 teak parquets of various sizes (worth K952,644) without official documents from a Nissan Fuso truck (worth K32 million) and a Hino truck (worth K30 million) heading from Namsam to Tachilek at the Tachilek Trading Post (Maeyang) on 26 May. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
An on-duty team at the Thanlwin Bridge combined checkpoint captured 3,500 kilogrammes of used china tableware (worth K3.5 million) without official documents from a JMC van (approximately K16 million) heading to Yangon from Hpa-an on 28 May. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
A combined team seized a Mazda car (estimated value of K2 million) without official documents in Oktwin township on 28 May and a total of 4.396 tonnes of teak and 2.056 tonnes of other hardwood (worth K2,611,044) in Thayawady district on 29 May. The on-duty team confiscated 1,200 kilogrammes of Choho motorcycle spare parts (worth K4.2 million) that were not declared in the ID from a Nissan diesel tractor head and a trailer (estimated value of K40 million) at the Mayanchaung Permanent checkpoint, five kinds of goods (worth K5,379,000) including 20 electronic steam irons that exceeded the ID from a container at the Hteedan Port and 8,800 bags of CEO café (worth K6.6 million) without official documents from luggage at the Yangon International Airport (Import Desk) on 29 May. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
A combined team nabbed 9,800 kilogrammes of hinges (worth K10,333,022) that exceeded the ID from a Mitsubishi Fuso lorry (approximately K30 million) heading to Yangon from Myawady near the Ywathagyi Tollgate on 29 May. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
Therefore, 14 arrests (estimated value of K183,575,710) were made on 16, 28 and 29 May, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee. — MNA/MKKS
