Misleading reports accuse security forces of arson in Sagaing Region

Recent reports from malicious media outlets allege that security forces were responsible for setting fire to several houses in Htomar and Zinkalin villages near the Kalay Technological University in Sagaing Region on 17 March.
However, a member of the security forces has refuted these claims, explaining that on the same day, PDF terrorists launched an assault on the university using heavy artillery. When met with a response from security forces, the attackers fled, leaving behind the burning houses near the university.
The attacks, reportedly carried out by PDF terrorists, involved artillery and drone bombings, resulting in fires and civilian casualties. Additionally, there are suspicions that the PDF terrorists threatened and kidnapped students and teachers to use them as human shields.
It is evident that these malicious media outlets are spreading misinformation with the aim of distorting the public’s perception of the security forces. — MNA/NT
