Senior General attends 2024 Inter-State/Region U-25 Men’s Football finals

The final match plus awarding ceremony of the 2024 Inter-State and Region U-25 Men’s Football Tournament was held at Wunna Theikdhi Stadium in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing enjoyed the matches and joined the awarding ceremony.
Yangon Region team beat Kachin State team 2-1 in the final match. As both teams were advancing to the finals, they put pressure on each other and competed fiercely, but they did not score a goal until the end of the game, so they continued to play overtime. In the 4th minute of overtime, the Yangon Region team took the lead. Afterwards, the Kachin State team fought hard to regain the equalizer at the 24-minute mark.
In the penalty shootout, the Yangon Region team defeated the Kachin State team 3-2.
Next, an awarding ceremony was held, and officials presented cash awards plus medals to the best athletes, the fourth-placed Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory team, the third-placed Kayin State team, and the second-placed Kachin State team.
State Administration Council Joint Secretary Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo presented individual medals to the player of the Champion team, Yangon. The Senior General then congratulated the Yangon Region team, who won the first prize, presented them with a cash award and a pennant trophy, and greeted the athletes warmly.
The 2024 Inter-State and Region U-25 Men’s Football Tournament has held since 15 March, with the aim of developing Myanmar football and bringing out outstanding Myanmar national team athletes. — MNA/KZL
