Above 6 mln travellers visit Shwedagon Pagoda during six months this year

A total of 6.3 million pilgrims, including more than 38,000 foreigners, visited the Shwedagon Pagoda from January to the end of June this year, according to the Shwedagon Pagoda Board of Trustees.
There are nearly 20,000 visitors on weekdays but there are between 30,000 and 50,000 at weekends and on public holidays.
Most of the tourists to the Shwedagon Pagoda were from Thailand, China, Viet Nam and Cambodia, followed by those from European countries. Some Americans and Africans also visited the pagoda.
The opening time of the Shwedagon Pagoda has been extended from 5 am to 8 pm. — TWA/MKKS
