Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker Mann Win Khaing Than and wife Daw Nant Kyin Kyi attended a ceremony to donate dry rations including rice and offertories to members of the Sangha in Myawady yesterday.
The ceremony was held at the Shwe Myin Wun Pagoda in Myawady Township, Kayin State, marking the full moon day of Thadingyut and end of the three-month Rain Retreat of Buddhist monks.
First, Myawady Distrtict Administrator U Tay Zar Aung, officials, donors and well-wishers offered “soon” (day meal) to monks at the Sasana Beikman building.
Then, a Paravana of rite of members of the Sangha was followed at the ordination hall of Phayar Gyi Monastery.
Next, the Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker and his family donated offertories to 3,079 monks, nuns and novices from 332 monasteries in Myawady District on the platform and passageway of Shwe Myin Wun Pagoda.The regional regiment’s high ranking officers and
families, departmental officials and families from
districts and townships,
political parties, members of the Myanmar Maternal and Child Welfare Association, social and religious organizations, members of the Myanmar Red Cross Society, members of the local fire brigade, donors and local people also gave offertories.
