Asho Chin to host new harvest festival in Bago Region on 30 Dec

The new harvest festival will be celebrated in the Bago Region on 30 December, said Salai Aye Paing, Chairman of the Asho Chin Literature and Culture Committee. The festival will be held in HngettawU village, Thaphancho village-tract, Paukkhaung Township, Bago Region.
The Chin traditional New Year festival has been held in every village and area of Asho Chin every year since time immemorial. It is usually celebrated at the time of the harvest.
The Asho Chin people hold the festival to express gratitude to their parents and grandparents. They believe the festival will allow them to enjoy good health, have a bountiful harvest, and raise many children and domestic animals. — ASH/TRKM
