Confiscation of illegal items: Consumer goods, electronics, industrial materials and vehicles

Acting on a tip-off, Mandalay Region Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force impounded 12 kinds of goods worth K197,761,234 including 12,091 kilogrammes of PVC reflective stickers, 945 sets of printer spare part OPC drum and 50 Dell Core i5 laptops that exceeded the Import Declaration (ID) from a Nissan diesel tractor head, a Mitsubishi Fuso tractor head and two trailers (approximate value of K155 million) heading to Mandalay from Muse at 23/6 Milepost on Mandalay-Lashio Road on 13 July. Measures are underway for action under Customs procedures.
Additionally, a combined team formed of Muse Township Administration Body and Customs Department made unexpected inspections on the vehicles entering from China at the Sinphyu checkpoint in Muse Township on 14 July. Officials confiscated nine kinds of goods worth K3.050 million including 23 sets of CCTV cameras without official documents that were piled up by the side of the road over the Sinphyu checkpoint. Action is to be taken under Customs procedures.
Officials under the Customs Department captured 10 Sidel halogen lamps worth K1,089,683 that exceeded the 61 days of VPA from luggage at the Yangon International Airport (Import Desk). Measures are underway for action under Customs procedures.
A team led by a police officer from Waw Myoma Police Station made detailed inspections on a Mitsubishi Canter truck (estimated value of K20 million) at the Nyaungkhashay X-Ray Station on 15 July and seized four kinds of goods worth K6,734,400 including 49 cartons of Smart fabric softener without official documents. Action is to be taken under Customs procedures.
As a result, a total of nine arrests were made on three consecutive days from 13 to 15 July, with an estimated value of K383,635,317, as reported by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee. — MNA/MKKS
