Confiscations of illegal items: Timbers, crude oil, consumer goods, industrial materials, motorbikes and vehicles

During inspections on 26 February, the joint teams under the Magway Region Region Illegal Trade Eradication Special Task Force nabbed a total of 1.390 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K87,000 in Pwintphyu township, seven related things worth K6.227 million, including 400 gallons of unlawful crude oil in Thayat township and two unregistered vehicles valued at K10.5 million at the Ayeyawady bridge and at the checkpoint on the outskirts of Magway township. This enforcement was carried out under the Forest Law, the Petroleum and Petroleum Products Law and the Export and Import Law.
On 26 February, the joint teams supervised by the Mandalay Region Illegal Trade Eradication Special Task Force impounded 15 kinds of consumer goods valued at K88.758 million, including 270 baby bicycles (made in China) without official documents from a Mitsubishi Fuso truck (approximately worth K38 million) travelling from Mongla to Mandalay at the Milepost 387/4 on Yangon-Mandalay. The action was conducted under Customs procedures.
On 27 February, an unregistered Toyota Landcruiser worth K15 million was seized at the Kantalu combined checkpoint, and 35 bags of wheat (each bag containing 45 kilogrammes) worth K3.85 million without official documents were captured at the Yadanabon combined checkpoint in Sagaing. The action was taken under the Export and Import Law.
Additionally, on the same day, a total of 0.685 tonne of illegal teak worth K291,588 was captured in Thayawady district, and 9.744 tonnes of illegal teak and 2.594 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K2.551,448 were confiscated in Pyinmana, Lewe and Oattarathiri districts. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
A total of nine kinds of goods valued at K144.38 million, including 1,808 square meters of Porcelain tiles that were different from the items mentioned in the ID, were confiscated from the Import Declaration (ID) from seven containers at the Myanmar Industrial Port on the same day. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
The Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee reported that 13 arrests were made on 26 and 27 February, with an estimated value of K309.646 million. — MNA/MKKS
