Consultation meeting held for electricity supply to industrial zones in Yangon Region

A coordination meeting emphasized electricity supply to industrial zones in Yangon Region held at Yangon Region Government Office on the morning of 13 August.
First of all, Union Minister for Electric Power U Thaung Han said that the power plants and national grids as well as sub-power stations are being built for electrifying people and industrial zones.
In addition, in order to meet the growing demand for electricity in the country, the ongoing projects include hydropower projects and solar power plants, as well as cross-border power lines and the purchase of electricity are being implemented, he said.
Furthermore, plans are underway to develop electricity generation using various sources including wind energy, the Union Minister added.
In doing so, the 500 kV power line and substation projects are also being planned for stablizing the power system and for ability to feed more power to the power lines, the Union Minister continued.
He said that measures are being taken to meet the power needs of industrial zones and industries in Yangon Region. In order to meet the power needs of industrial zones as much as possible, infrastructure is being upgraded, he said. After that, officials explained the electricity generation and distribution and transmission of electricity.
The chairman of Yangon Electricity Supply Corporation said that the supply of power in the Yangon region and officials from the industrial zones discussed the business conditions and the needs of the electricity that will be invested in the electricity sector.
The Union Minister and the Yangon Region Chief Minister fulfilled the needs of electrification.—MNA
