Establishment of movie studio, film school mulled

A coordination meeting on arrangements to establish a movie studio and skills training school for the development of the Myanmar motion picture sector was held at the meeting hall of the Ministry of Information in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday afternoon.
In his opening remarks, Union Minister for Information Dr. Pe Myint urged all to discuss what would be necessary together to establish a movie studio and training school.
Myanma Radio and Television Director General U Myint Htway suggested requirements for establishing a movie studio and training school.
Information and Public Relations Department Director General U Ye Naing explained the status of upgrading, maintaining and follow-up works on the Studio (1) building in the Myanmar Motion Picture Organisation at No. 50, Golden Valley Road in Bahan Township, Yangon. The Director General also explained follow-up works on Studio (2) and outdoor settings in the compound, movie-related training courses conducted in cooperation with local and foreign entities as well as private persons, arrangements made to conduct more such training courses and the status of government and private local movie training schools.
Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism U Ohn Muang, Nay Pyi Taw Council member U Aung Myint Tun, Ministry of Religious Affairs and Cultures Permanent Secretary U Htun Ohn and officials of the Ministry of Construction then discussed the status of support and assistance to establish a movie studio and training school.
Meeting attendees also provided discussion and suggestions in connection with their respective sectors.
In his concluding speech, Union Minister Dr. Pe Myint announced another meeting with experts from the motion picture sector as well as inviting others who ought to participate for the establishment of a movie studio and training school in Nay Pyi taw.
Present at the meeting were Deputy Minister for Information U Aung Hla Tun, Permanent Secretary, directors general, managing directors, deputy permanent secretary and officials from related ministerial departments. — Myanmar News Agency
