Flocks of pilgrims pay homage to world’s tallest sitting marble Buddha image

The Maravijaya, the world’s tallest sitting marble Buddha image in the precinct of Buddha Park in Dekkhinathiri Township of Nay Pyi Taw, is crowded with pilgrims.
It is open to the public free of charge from 8 and 16 August between 6 am and 8 pm. The monks, nuns and visitors flocked to the pagoda and made donations.
The well-wishers donate vegetable biryani meal boxes to the pilgrims at the pagoda.
There will be inspections under security measures for the safety of pilgrims, and apart from the escalator, the buggies for monks, the elderly and the disabled are arranged.
Moreover, there are spacious places for the pilgrims and religious organizations to recite Gathas and the people can view the pagodas in 24 special chambers around the platform of the Maravijaya Buddha Image.
Similarly, the people can pay homage to the 720 stone plaque chamber pagodas on which Tri Pitaka treatises were curved in Pali and Romanized languages with the use of modern machinery.
The Thudhamma public houses constructed with traditional architecture were also packed with pilgrims and the water fountain square and other religious and recreational sites and Sasana Beikman Agga Dhipati ordination hall, with a stand for 900 members of the Sangha and 1,200 laypersons capacity, in Buddha Park were also crowded with throngs of visitors. — MNA/KTZH
