Flood victims in Hlaingbwe, Hpa-an get relief assistance

Union Minister Dr Soe Win provides foodstuffs to family members of flood victims yesterday.

People in Hlaingbwe and Hpa-an received relief aid provided by the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement as they are suffering from flooding due to heavy rains this week. Union Minister Dr Soe Win and officials handed over cash and foodstuffs to flood-affected people temporarily living in the flood relief camps in these two townships yesterday.
They also observed the evacuation of flood victims and encouraged them not to be discouraged. The Union minister presented K39,673,200 for rice and instant foodstuffs to 4,723 people of 990 households who are temporarily staying at ten flood relief camps in Hlaingbwe Township.
Likewise, he provided K31,230,000 for rice and instant foods to 3,470 for 704 households at nine relief camps in Hpa-an and K6,768,000 for rice and instant noodles and eggs to 752 people of 172 households at three relief camps in Kyondoe. — MNA/KZL
