Kathoung authorities screened the foreign and local staff from the resorts and hotels on the islands in the Andaman Sea as they arrived back the town yesterday. At the Myoma Jetty, the health workers tested about 100 staff from the Victoria Cliff Hotel and Resort on the NyaungOoPhee Island which shut down due to the COVID-19.
There was no cases of high fever with similar symptoms of the COVID-19, said the authorities.
About 30 local staff returned home while the remaining 70 staff would be provided with facilities and health care until the hotel reopen. In a five-star hotel on the Thahtay Island, there are 348 Thais, 113 Filipino and 1000 Myanmar staff.
Foreign and local staff at the hotels on the islands in the Andaman Sea are also provided with facility quarantine and health care at the respective hotels.
During the period of closure, staff would receive 50 per cent of their salaries and food aid.—Kyaw Soe (Kawthoung)
