Illegal timbers, foodstuffs, consumer goods, industrial materials and vehicles confiscated

The Customs on-duty teams under the management of the Customs Department made inspections on 22 and 24 October and nabbed 13 kinds of goods worth K13.814 million, including 100 thick blankets, that were smuggled and piled up by the side of road near Mongmaw village at the 105th-Mile Trade Zone, 20 kinds of goods worth K230.75 million, including 500 kilogrammes of PP-R Pipe PN-20 size without Import Licence and 100,518.24 kilogrammes of Richoco chocolate cream wafer that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID), from 21 containers at the Thilawa Port Terminal container checkpoint, two unregistered Daihatsu Hijet cars and five unregistered Yamaha C-50 motorbikes worth K14.5 million near the detour of Moppalin- Soppanu-Ingabo road, a Mitsubishi Fuso truck, an Isuzu truck and a Mitsubishi Canter vehicle (approximately worth K75 million), headed to Yangon from Myawady, carrying four kinds of goods worth K13.72 million, including 100 sets of National double gas stove and 2,000 kilogrammes of 100 per cent cotton fabric that were not declared in the ID, at the Mayanchaung permanent checkpoint and a Hino Ranger truck (estimated value of K30 million), travelling from Myawady to Yangon, carrying two kinds of goods worth K6 million, including 100 rolls of linoleum that were not declared in the ID, at the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) combined checkpoint. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
On 24 and 25 October, the combined teams captured a Yutong bus (estimated value of K55 million), travelling from Yangon to Mogok, carrying 576 litres of palm oil (Two-Shrimp band) worth K2.88 million without official documents at the Letpanhla-Singu temporary checkpoint and a total of 0.557 tonne of illegal timbers worth K61,500 in Pathein township. The action was taken under Customs procedures and the Forest Law.
The combined on-duty teams made inspections on 25 and 26 October and confiscated a total of 1.003 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K501,605 in Kanma township, 1.371 tonnes of illegal hardwood and 0.375 tonne of illegal timbers worth K2,149,578 in Ngaphe township, 1.479 tonnes of illegal teak worth K976,140 in Thayawady district, 0.085 tonne of illegal teak, 0.334 tonne of illegal hardwood and 0.946 tonne of illegal timbers worth K365,160 in Toungoo district.
